Sabrina Tassoni—Rockford, Illinois
“My name is Sabrina, I’m a 23-year-old potter living in Northern Illinois. I’ve been potting for nearly 5 years now after I got my start by taking classes at a community college. I became pretty obsessed pretty quickly and I’ve been making pottery ever since. I’ve also started selling my work online and teaching beginner wheel throwing classes at a local studio.
I focus most of my efforts towards the pottery wheel - I enjoy the throwing part of the process more than anything else, although I am not a huge fan of the feeling of dried clay up and down my arms and legs, which is more often than not the result... I love throwing all sorts of forms and I’m currently working on increasing the amount of clay I feel comfortable working with. Mugs are probably my favorite things to make, I find that I use them most often so I tend to make them the most often. I really enjoy pulling handles and decorating my mugs with underglaze, primarily the amaco velvet variety.”
