73rd Greenwich Village Art Fair winners chosen by 2021 Judge April Marque
Exhibiting at this year’s 73rd Greenwich Village Art Fair (Sept. 18, 2021 at Rockford Art Museum, 711 N. Main St., Rockford) were about 55 juried artists from around the region and across the nation. Types of artwork represented include paintings, jewelry, sculpture, glass, ceramics, textiles, photography, wood, mixed media, and more.
Artists annually compete for awards, where their work was viewed by 2021 Judge April Marque. On Saturday, September 18, awards were presented to:
BEST OF SHOW (sponsored by Lon and Richard Behr): Dan Brinkmeier (Mount Carroll)
JUDGE’S CHOICE (five awards; sponsored by Dean Alan Olson Foundation, Rockford Mutual Insurance, Williams McCarthy LLP, Wipfli and Women’s Art Board): Melinda Cook (Freeport, IL), Dick Dahlstrom (Rockford, IL), Norm Knott (Rockford, IL), Katie + Chris Robleski (Milwaukee, WI), Samuel Yao (Ann Arbor, MI)
HONORABLE MENTION (five awards; sponsored by Gorman & Co.): Claudia Darak (Schererville, IN), Joy Griffis (Rockford, IL), Kelly James (Rockford, IL), Anne Morris (Rock Island, IL), Peter Swanson (Rockford, IL).
The fair also featured a local Emerging Artists Booth, sponsored by TREKK, with four artists invited to exhibit by Kortman Gallery, and its own Emerging Artist award, sponsored by Kortman Gallery. Kyle Kufrin (Rockford, IL) was named this year’s winner.
Presenting Sponsor for the 73rd Greenwich Village Art Fair was Midland States Bank; Premier Sponsors were Lon and Dick Behr, Cathy and Rob Funderburg, and Dean Alan Olson Foundation. Established in 1948 and held rain or shine on the second weekend after Labor Day every year, Greenwich is the longest-running art fair of its kind in the Midwest. Ticket proceeds support Rockford Art Museum.
Led by 2021 Co-Chairs Jenny Mathews and Tim Stotz, Greenwich Village Art Fair is annually coordinated by a volunteer steering committee of Rockford Art Museum, and staffed by hundreds of community volunteers during the event.
